Terms

Zolar is software that runs in your browser. It is not a bank, an exchange, a broker, a custodian or a money transmitter. It does not hold your funds at any point, and there is no address Zolar controls that your ZEC passes through. Using it creates no account with anybody, and nothing on this site is investment, legal or tax advice.

The circuit, the wallet and the custody model are new and have not been through an external audit. Use an amount you would be relaxed about losing. Software this young can have faults that cost money, and the ones that matter are the ones nobody has found yet.

• The recovery phrase is shown once, and it is the only way back to your funds
• It is held in this browser, encrypted. Clearing site data — or moving to another browser or device without the phrase — loses access
• Nobody, Zolar included, can reissue it, reset it or recover it for you
• A broadcast transaction cannot be recalled, reversed or refunded by Zolar. No one operating this software is able to move, freeze or return your funds

Zolar is not to be used for anything unlawful, and not by anybody a sanctions regime prohibits from using it.

• Whether using this is lawful where you are. Zolar makes no representation that it is
• Your own tax position, in whatever jurisdiction it arises
• Keeping your recovery phrase, and keeping it away from everybody else
• Checking an address before you send to it

Purchases on the BUY surface carry their own terms, shown before you commit and reachable from the surface itself. Those terms cover fulfilment, refunds, device compatibility and coverage, and they are the ones that apply to a purchase. Nothing here replaces them.

Zolar depends on Zcash, on Solana, and on the third-party hosts named in the privacy page. None of them is operated by Zolar. A chain reorganisation, a consensus change, an outage, a fee spike, or a third party withdrawing a service is not something Zolar can prevent, insure against or compensate you for.

There is no uptime commitment. The proxy and the history store can be taken down for maintenance, can fail, and can be discontinued. The wallet is built to survive that — keys are local, and the ledger is written locally before anything is sent — but a sync or a broadcast still needs a working network path, and there is no promise that one will be there.

Zolar is provided as-is and as-available, with no warranty of any kind: no merchantability, no fitness for a particular purpose, no non-infringement, and no guarantee that it is uninterrupted, error-free or secure. This applies to the fullest extent the law where you are allows.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Zolar is not liable for lost funds, lost profits, lost data, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from using this software. Where Zolar is liable at all, that liability is limited to what you have paid Zolar — which, for the wallet, is nothing. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Zolar's code is published and readable, and reading it is encouraged — most of what this site claims can be checked there rather than taken on trust. Publication is not a licence: no open-source terms have been granted over it, so reuse is by permission. The Zolar name and marks are not covered by that either, and using them to suggest a build is the official one is not permitted.

These terms can change, and the date above says when they last did. The terms that applied to something you did are the ones shown at the time you did it.
